Don't use any Makeup Products Unless...

Good skin care is the foundation of beauty. But many women enjoy using makeup, too. People use cosmetics to enhance their beauty. These products range from foundation to lipstick, eyeliner etc. They are created to make us feel confident, but they should be used safely in order to have the right effect.

Here are some important & safety tips on how cosmetics should be used:

  • Read the labels for product content and safety information. Follow all those directions including "Cautions'" and "Warning".
  • Make sure to wash your hands before applying makeup.
  • Keep makeup containers clean and closed  tight when not in use
  • Don't store your makeup above 85°F (29°C)
  • Throw out products if the color or smell changes, or they get older.
  • Throw out your mascara after 3 months.
  • Do not add saliva or water to makeup.
  • Do not use cosmetics near your eyes unless they are meant for your eye. For example, do not use a lip liner as an eyeliner. The chances to spread germs from your mouth to your eyes is very high.
  • Even if we know that everyone might get tempted to try that Dior lipstick of the friend or sister, Do not share your makeup. Sharing makeup increases the risk of contamination.
  • Don't use the testers in store cosmetics. Testers, commonly found at department store cosmetic counters are even more likely to become contaminated than the same products in an individual's home. They can have a lot of germs because a lot people use them. If you feel you must test a makeup product before buying it, apply it with a new, unused applicator, such a cotton swab or fresh sponge.
  • Do not use eyemakeup if you have an eye infection. Throw away that product.
  •  Stop using immediately a product if you get a rash or have a problem. Call your doctor if a product causes skin changes like itching and rash. This means you might be having an allergic reaction. Also, we recommend to even call the company that makes that product.

These are some crucial tips that everyone should follow before applying any makeup product.
Keep in mind that there is no law that cosmetics must have an expiration date. Consumers should be aware that expiration dates are simply "rules of thumb". Expiration dates are just guidelines. A product may go bad even sooner if you don't properly store it.
