Cellulite...This word is the worst nightmare of many women. But if you have cellulite, you are definitely not alone!
Cellulite means those unattractive dimples on the hips, thighs and buttocks which have plagues women for centuries now. It appears when a collection of fat pushes against the connective tissue beneath a person's skin and causes the surface of the skin to dimple and look lumpy.
Several factors influence whether a person has cellulite and how much they have. These factors include your genes, gender, the amount of fat on your body, your age and the thickness of your skin. These all are related with the amount of cellulite your have and how visible it is. Women are particularly prone to cellulite because their connective tissue is softer than men's. When the cells in the fat stores are greater than the ones your body uses up, you start seeing cellulite popping up. There is a wrong impression that cellulite is associated to obesity, but no. As a matter of fact, it affects both overweight and skinny people.
Below, I am showing you home remedies that will help you reduce the amount of cellulite on your body. These methods include a number of effective substances including potatoes, sea salt and massage oils. These are the best to use to combat cellulite.
- Pour 1 cup wheat germ oil over a handful of fresh ivy leaves and let steep for 2 weeks in a sealed container kept in a warm location. Strain the liquid and mix in 2 drops of rosemary oil. This will be an effective massage oil and I recommend to rub into your cellulite daily using circular motions.
- Boil 3 tablespoons ivy leaves in 2 liters water for 2 minutes and then strain. After leave it the liquid to get cool for few minutes. Moisten the cotton cloths with this cooled liquid and apply it to the affected areas once a day for around 20 minutes. This mixture will help you tighten the subcutaneous tissue.
- Mix other oils such cinnamon, lavender, chamomile or rosemary with a base oil ( almond oil ) to create a massage oil for cellulite patches. You can use it daily.
- Potatoes posses remarkable healing powers, including the ability to tighten connective tissue. This is why, I strongly recommend to peel a potato, slice it thinly and lay the raw slices on the skin areas affected by cellulite. After, cover with a cotton cloth and let the potato work for around 15-20 minutes.
- Massaging sea salt into moist skin can also be very effective. Do it daily after taking a shower and then rinse the salt off with warm water.
These home remedies have shown to be very effective, but is also essential to make sure you eat a low-fat diet and exercise regularly. I recommend to drink plenty of fluids to flush out of waste and provide the skin with moisture from the inside. Also, eat a low-fat, high fiber diet containing plenty of fresh fruits and green vegetables.
